Sean's Story

GOT SAX ?

Sean Pettis started playing sax in fourth grade and his passion for music has grown from that early start. He has become a mainstay in the Glens Falls/Lake George, NY region during is breaks home from college. You can find him performing solo gigs or sitting in with other local bands. His energy and song variety, which encompasses the 50's - today's hits, appeals to all audiences.

Sean was eager to play the sax and began taking lessons from Greg Mason when he was nine years old. Greg worked with Sean through his Elementary and Middle School years and retired to spend winters in Florida. Sean is very appreciative of the guidance and foundation Greg provided for him. After all these years, Greg remains very supportive and attends Sean's gigs when he's in town. Sean is also grateful for his Glens Falls City School District music director, Jeremy Bouteiller. Jeremy had Sean as a student throughout his entire school music career. Jeremy was there for every NYSSMA and State performance over the years. Sean also studied classical sax with Jeremy. During High School, Sean studied saxophone, clarinet and flute with

EricWalentowicz, a well-known Capital District musician who has played professionally throughout the US. Eric guided and prepared Sean for NYSSMA solos, NY State bands, college searches and auditions.

Sean graduated from Glens Falls High School in Glens Falls, New York in 2020. The summer of 2020 did not allow many opportunities to perform live music, but he was able to pick up a steady gig in the Village of Lake George.

In September 2020, Sean left for Nashville, TN to begin his college career at Belmont University. He is currently a Commercial Music major with a Sax Performance emphasis. Sean is a versatile performer and Belmont will afford him the opportunity to study Classical and Jazz while exploring additional genres of music.
